In American English, especially from the 1960s counterculture onwards, 'grooved' and 'in the groove' became popular slang terms meaning to be in tune with something, enjoying a good vibe, or appreciating music. This usage is less common in Brazilian Portuguese, where more contemporary slang like 'ligado' or 'na vibe' is preferred. The physical/technical meaning (having channels or furrows) is standard across all regions.
